The Art of Eating Lanzones

Lanzones is a sweet, yellow, round fruit that is commonly found in the province of Laguna in Luzon and in Camiquin Island in Mindanao. Some people said that the lanzones from Camiguin is much sweeter than the lanzones from Laguna province. I personally confirmed it, besides, lanzones from Camiguin is also much cheaper.

Lanzones is a sweet and delicious fruit. However, it is not easy to eat a lanzones . If not properly opened, its cover releases a white liquid that taste very bitter and also a stained in your clothes. To avoid the release of this white substance while peeling, the cover must be break lengthwise such that its opening will be parallel to the fiber of the cover. It can be done by slightly pressing the upper side of the fruit, near the tip where it is connected with the trunk. The press must not be too much because too much force may squeeze the content of the fruit inside.

The seed of lanzones also taste bitter, so, a proper care must be taken into consideration while swallowing it.

After some hassle of opening the fruit, the reward, however, is its sweet and delicious lanzones meat.
