About Landline Telecommunications in the Philippines. As of year 2004, there are 6,473,051 installed telephone lines in the Philippines. However, only 3,437,491 or 53%are subscribed. Among the major telephone operators are Bayantel, Bell Telecom, Digitel, ETPI/TTPI, Innove, Philcom, Piltel, PLDT, and PT&T. PLDT has the most number of subscribers which has a total market share of 61.54%, followed by Digitel, 12%.

As of 2003, the teledensity index or the number of telephone lines per 100 Filipinos is only 8.09, 0.61 lower than 2002 and 0.79 lower than 2001.
